Who am I?
I’m a music teacher with teaching experience across all grade levels from pre-k through 12 and in two states, New York and Connecticut. I started off in upstate New York at a Junior-Senior High School with large classes and no budget. I was able to move to an Elementary school the next year and taught music there for three years before moving to Connecticut. I taught elementary music one additional year before taking six years at home to raise my children and finish my Masters degree in Education.
I returned to teaching elementary music happily for four years before being transferred reluctantly to Middle School General Music, which sounded to me like the worst thing ever. However, now that I am at the middle school level, I wonder why I didn’t do this before. I am pleased with my new life, and the opportunities to learn about, teach about, and participate in music all while expanding my list of tools and strategies for meeting the needs of my students. I am currently pursuing a Sixth Year Certificate in Instructional Technologies and Digital Media Literacy.
